I am in the market for a 5 bay, RAID-5 hard drive enclosure. I have narrowed it down to 2 choices - Sans Digital TR-5UTB or a Terramaster D5-300. Links to the products are here: http://www.terra-master.com/html/en/article_read_1173.html and http://www.sansdigital.com/tr5utplusbn.html Which one of these would you buy and why did you choose it? Right now, I am leaning towards Terra-Master. It is something new for me; I have had 6 of the TowerRaids so far. Nothing wrong with them either. I will be putting 5 8TB Western Digital Red drives in whichever I get. Both of the devices will work with those drives.
http://www.terra-master.com/html/en/article_read_1173.html Supports bigger GPT type partitions (the other probably does too, but they don't mention it, meaning it's not as good as the competitor as it's verified as supported) It includes TypeC, which will be handy for you in the future due to TypeC being a better port and more common (eventually) plus you can plug it in either direction so don't have to turn HUB around to plug in cable. That is about all I can say, they will both give you a HUGE external HDD storage option.
As I said, I was leaning towards the Terra-Master. Yes, it will give me a huge external storage option. It will go on my home server along with my Nexsan SATABeast. Now THAT is insane. I have it populated with 1.5TB drives that I have bought over the years.... http://www.dataspan.com/store/products/nexsan-satabeast-high-density-expandable-storage-system
