I ran across a VERY cool special holiday themed special effect for a forum. Check out https://www.kharkovforum.com/. It's a Ukrainian forum, (On the very bottom on the left you can set it to translate to English, along with setting a dark theme), but look at the garland and ornaments at the top of every page. Then move your cursor across the garland, or use your keypad and hit any of most of the keys, lowercase a-z, 0-9, and a few others, while the cursor is in any random place on the page, NOT in the browser address or search bar. The ornaments act like little bells and play and move! A very cool effect. It is apparently done through javascript. And they seem to refer to the effect/code as "newyear". If you look at the source of the page, look for what is between the <!-- ny --> <!-- /ny --> and <!-- ny --> <! --/ny --> tags near the top of the page. Part of the code is in <div class="b-page_newyear">, and the locations of the images are specified in https://www.kharkovforum.com/images/ny/style.css. Such as: and The sound is controlled by the code in https://static.kharkovforum.com/images/ny/script.js. In addition to bringing back our holiday logo, it might be neat to implement the garland and bells here as well? I know a little about web site code, but I'm no expert. (I can cut and paste with the best of them, but ...) So it might take someone with more web site coding experience than I have. Anyway, just a thought.
Thanks for reminding me about that effect, as I also remember that one of my go-to definitely legit and legal software repack websites (https://repack.me) has the same effect as well, I remember it having said effect last year. EDIT: And it looks like https://sergeistrelec.ru has the same effect too.
Might be a bit late here, but I finally found the script itself in question: https://pcvector.net/scripts/other/240-novogodnyaya-motnya-ot-yandeksa.html. Scroll down and click on "Скачать" to download it. Seems like the script was first taken from the Yandex Mail login page and then later improved upon and updated.
