I am drawing a blank of a website i used to go to for all sorts of tips ranging from ASCII tables to Linux support to even DOS tips. I know that the site is still out there and I will discover it again someday. But with this in mind, what site do you think is your favorite that is nothing but IT tips? PCStats, Toms Hardware, etc. I know some of you will list LastOS. ;)

After reviewing ALL my bookmarks, I found the site I was referring (GE Geek) back. I also remembered Cheat-Sheets.org. I am still curious though which are your "go to" sites for not having to reinvent the wheel.

I don't visit sites much anymore, I just discover new ones as needed, that said here is my old news and tech sites I use(d):

    Software:
    https://www.majorgeeks.com/
    https://filehippo.com/latest/

    News:
    https://feedmesh.com/
    https://www.redmondpie.com/
    https://www.engadget.com/
    https://lifehacker.com/
    https://torrentfreak.com/

Feedmesh is the best news site left, I used to use Pulse News, but they were brought out by linkedin and they DESTROYED it - it now sucks worse than yahoo news and has lost the rss feed thumbnail/headings. Feedmesh is also available as a Mobile app too.

But for Tech help I use https://stackoverflow.com/ - but googling for direct links instead of using their search. - that is how I find out how to do Batch file tasks etc.

I think that the absolute best sites to use for any kind of scripting help, along with https://stackoverflow.com/ as Glenn mentioned, are https://ss64.com/ and https://www.robvanderwoude.com/. All 3 of those sites have been around as long as I have had any kind of interest in computer software, and are full of invaluable information and tips, from DOS, vbscript, powershell, linux, perl, etc.

For some particular software issues, https://forum.videohelp.com/ can be extremely helpful.

For general software help, in addition to http://forum.lastos.org/, of course, https://forums.mydigitallife.net/, https://msfn.org/board/, http://reboot.pro/, https://www.wincert.net/forum/, and https://ryanvm.net/forum/index.php are old standbys, though the last two have gotten somewhat dated. And for access to info that has disappeared, don't forget the WayBack Machine - https://archive.org/.

A long time ago I discovered https://weboas.is/ , it has a pretty comprehensive list of links in different categories. Could be useful.

Yea I use stackoverflow + various old resources (like ss64) for my stuff personally.

P.S. ASUS EEEPC 1001p Driver Kernel revival project in batch soon? :D

For some unknown reason I never tried to check out https://weboas.is/ until today, and I'm too late. Apparently, the web admin committed suicide 2022/01/04 and the site is now gone.

However, he did do as he stated in his post and posted the site source code, excluding the forum and chat source code, I checked, and it is there. So I suppose someone could recreate the site, or include some of the site references or links in other sites. Would it be possible or useful to include some of those links or information here at LastOS? Just a thought.

Life is a nightmare for many people. Often, the realization of this is kept at bay by activities, however trivial they may sometimes be. But when that train stops, the ills often can't be ignored any longer.
