https://torrentfreak.com/australian-isp-rejects-pirate-site-blocking-attempt-151120/ A small Australian Internet provider is refusing to block a website that allegedly infringes on the copyrights of a local construction company. Lawyers demanded a blockade citing Australia's new anti-piracy legislation, but the ISP believes that it's an attempt to bypass a law which is already flawed. --------- Lawyers representing the local construction company Simonds Homes sent a request to a small ISP ordering it to block subscriber access to the website of its competitorCHM Constructions, claiming it infringes their copyrights. ============================ Sounds like the local construction company is trying to scare the ISP into blocking another company based on the premise that there is a copyright infringement when all they appear to want to do is squeeze out the competition. Things must be desperate if a company is totally reliant on a website to bring in business.
Be funny if it backfires and the attempted blocking company has to pay legal fees. Australia is a much MUCH smaller group than most other continents - meaning if a business is good and respects their customers then they'll survive (even if someone tries to undercut them), because I have seen many business go under here because they ripped off only one customer in a provable way (such as shoddy workmanship or not matching the original quotes). So for a company to resort to the law to make it isn't a good sign and it's un-Australian
