I imagine Freezer will still have an XP device and Trouba will maintain a Win 7 image for a while longer, but once Universal Apps are the main ones people are using, Windows 7 will turn in to a dinosaur OS much like 95/98 did when the internet took over and XP came to give us stability, 3D accelerated graphics and a media rich way to access the web. People will be wanting the benefits of DirectX v12 for their games and I have no doubts that many of us will be wanting newer hardware and maybe even MS HoloLens I am excited to see how Win 10 will end up, it has so many good features being added and many of the ideas I had years ago are continuing to emerge - only way more refined, the MS team are doing a great job and I can only hope Apple and other groups/teams take up the challenge of beating/improving MS's innovation as the competition is what keeps it most interesting. No signs of the new JTP (January Tech Preview) but a few tweets have said you'll be able to upgrade from JTP to the final release (unconfirmed), so I'll be moving on to Win 10 as soon as the ISO is ready.
